Jabalpur is also called as “Sanskaardhani” by local people. Jabalpur is a city in Madhya Pradesh, India. It is said that sage Jabali stayed and did all his prayers at this place and it is named after him only. People in Jabalpur are very frank and helpful. Jabalpur is mainly known for its Military center and white marbles.
There are various places to see in Jabalpur which are described as follows:
Bhedaghat: This is the place where white marble rocks are found. Mainly it is a water fall where river Narmada comes with full force and falls down and creates a breezy smoke. People call it “dhuandhaar” also. This fall is surrounded by plenty of marble rocks. People staying near this place earn their livelihood by selling articles made of marbles such as God, Monuments, and Ornaments etc.
Panchvati: After Bhedaghaat River progresses towards Panchwati. One can go for boat rides, take bath or just sit aside and view the river. River stays here at full force and has whirls inside. That’s why none is allowed to boat alone or swim.
Gaurighat: It is a sacred ghaat with the temple of goddess Parvati & goddess Narmada. One side of river there are so many small temples and another side of river there is Gurudwara (worship place of Sikh community). One has to commute by boat to reach Gurudwara.
Devtal: This place has a small lake, hilltop and a temple of lord Hanumana. From the hilltop one can get a view of half Jabalpur. In the lake boating is allowed and one can go alone for boating without any fear.
Gorakhpur: This is one of the busy markets in Jabalpur. One can get any commodity at this place but the prices here would be of sky range so it is recommended to do window shopping out here and buy the things from other markets.
Civic Center: Civic Center is situated in the middle of the city. Here one can find super markets, road side shops, restaurants, colleges, schools etc.
Tals: There are places with the names followed by “tal” such as Marhatal, Ranital, Soopatal, Phootatal, Hathital and Adhartal.
Rani Durgavati Museum: There was a Queen Durgavati who contributed her life for freedom revolution. Her fort was turned into a museum and people go there to see all old era things. One of the leading Universities of Madhya Pradesh is also on her name.
GCF (Gun Carriage Factory): The area surrounding Gun Carriage Factory is called as GCF estate. This place is under military jurisdiction.
VFJ (Vehicle Factory Jabalpur): This area is also under military surveillance. This factory is known for the Shaktiman trucks used for the commutation of Military people.
There are many places in the neighborhood of Jabalpur that can be visited if someone is fond of exploring India. Some of the interesting places are:
Amarkantak: Amarkantak is the origin of river Narmada and a sacred place too. Every year many people visit Amarkantak to praise the origin of Narmada river.
Kanha National Park: This national park is situated some 169 K.M away from Jabalpur. It is a wildlife sanctuary Majorly known for the population of Tigers in the Park.
Bandhavgarh National Park: This place is known for the wildlife sanctuary and the oldest forts in India. This place is 164 K.M far from Jabalpur.
Maihar: The Sharda Devi Temple in this place is praised equivalent to Vaishnav Devi temple of Jammu Tavi. It is 2.30 hrs of journey from to Jabalpur to reach Maihar.
There are so many places in Madhya Pradesh to write about and if I will keep writing like this then it will take me 5-6 days to post this blog. So I am ending up here writing about Jabalpur.
